Claudio is a fluid dynamicist and chemical engineer working at the interface between rheology, fluid mechanics, and chemical engineering. His research at the University of Manchester focuses on the flow and mixing of complex fluids in industrially relevant geometries, including yield-stress and viscoelastic materials. 

Claudio trained at the University of Porto, where his PhD on mixing in confined impinging jets earned him the EFCE Young Researcher Award in Mixing (2015). He then worked at IFP Energies Nouvelles in France on CFD modelling of pilot-scale reactors, before joining Manchester in 2016. Claudio is Secretary of the EFCE Working Party on Mixing. 

On Council, he hopes to strengthen links between rheology, formulation science and industrial processing, and to support early-career researchers.
