Dr Francesco Del Giudice is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and he is the head of the Rheological Microfluidic lab at Swansea University Bay Campus. Francesco has the long-term vision of challenging the status quo by introducing disruptive technologies and methodologies. This ambitious result is currently explored through:

Rheological and microrheological characterisation of dilute viscoelastic liquids by using novel microfluidic platforms as well as conventional techniques.
Design polymer solutions to be used as suspending liquids to manipulate the trajectories of particles and cells flowing in microchannels.
Controlled particle and cell encapsulation in microfluidic devices.
Dr Del Giudice is currently exploring new applications relating artificial intelligence and machine learning to novel diagnostic devices. New research areas in line with his vision are continuously identified to account for new developments in applied and theoretical research.

Francesco has several hobbies including reading, classic music, photography, and cycling.  He is always open to face new challenges and is keen to lead other people that share his vision. He also acts as a counsellor for colleagues and students that need support.
