ICR Awards, deadline 15 December.
To encourage student participation at next year’s International Congress on Rheology (ICR) – to be held in Lisbon – the BSR council has decided to offer 10 Special Travel Awards. The value of each award will be £250 including free BSR membership for 2012 and, in an effort to reach as large a number of students as possible, the usual requirement that the student must be a member of the BSR to apply will be waived (although priority will be given to BSR members). If not a student member of the BSR, applicants must be registered as a student at a UK institution. The grants will be awarded on a competitive basis as judged by the quality of the abstract and supporting letter.
The closing date for consideration of the award will be the 15th December 2011 to coincide with the abstract deadline for the ICR. Successful applicants will be notified by 31st January 2012. Applicants should include in their submission the title, authors and abstract(s) of the paper(s) submitted to the conference and a supporting letter from their research supervisor. The support of the British Society of Rheology should be acknowledged in the conference presentation. The Society’s logo may be used for this purpose. Payment of the bursary will be made on receipt of a report on the conference. The conference report will be published in the Bulletin of the Society. Applications for a Special BSR Travel Award should be sent to Rob Poole (robpoole@liv.ac.uk).
